Casale, Peter A.

Casale, Peter A. age 92 of Newton, NJ died peacefully Wednesday December 4, 2013. Born in Newark, he grew up in East Orange and had lived many years in West Orange, before moving to Sussex County in 1987.             Son of the late Andrew and Lena (Spinelli) Casale, Peter had served in the US Army during WWII as a Sergeant from 1942 to 1946.  A parishioner of the St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church both in Newton and West Orange, he was a loving and devoted son, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and sibling.  Peter was the owner operator of the Hess & Fitzgerald Maytag Appliance Sales and service for many years before his retirement. A practical joker and avid story teller, Peter enjoyed music, playing the guitar and banjo. He and his wife Elena spent many happy years at their home in Point Pleasant with family and friends.             Peter was pre deceased by his beloved wife Elena Louise (Zilli) Casale as well as his six sisters Sally, Vera, Marie, Eleanor, Lucy and Anna.  Survivors include his son Andrew and his wife Susan of New Tripoli, PA, her daughters Christine Drogo of Chandler, AZ and Carol and her husband Frank Stracco of Hampton Twp., NJ as well as her four grandchildren and two great grandchildren and his sister Doris Casale.             Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday December 9, 2013 at 11:30 AM in the St. Joseph RC Church Halstead St. Newton, NJ. Interment will follow in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery#225 Ridgedale Ave. E. Hanover, NJ. Visitation will be held Sunday December 8th from 1 to 4 PM in the Iliff Ruggiero Funeral Home, 156 Main Street, Newton, N.J.

If there was an Uncle we all enjoyed visiting, who could make you laugh until it hurt, it was Uncle Pete. His smile was contagious and humor the BEST. A real gentleman and loving father, uncle, person. RIP with the best of them. You will truely be missed by all.
