Here are some special memories shared by family and friends.
When Halsey lived next door I spent a lot of time on his back porch. Everyday after work I'd pull up my driveway get out of the car and him and Casey would be sitting there so I'd go over and sit with them. Talk about everything and anything. Both of my boys took a shining to him. Andrew was extremely impressed with his extensive DVD collection. Soon after seeing halseys he started his own collection. So I basically unwound with him and Casey and later with the 3 of them when Cooper came along everyday after work. I have missed him and denise and the boys since he moved. I did not stay in touch with him and for that I am sorry. Now I won't ever see him. He was a good man who loved his family. Lots of conversations about his boys. He was so proud of them.
We shared many hours talking, laughing and having fun. We were there for each other. When I had a very bad car accident and was in hospital for 3 months, he stayed at my apartment and took care of my cat and home. He loved his children and talked about them all the time. You will be missed Mr. Halsey for your laughter and just having a good time. he y
So terribly sorry to hear of Halsey's passing. My sincere condolences to his lady, his Dad, his children, grandson, and all his other friends and family. I was a member of Sparta High class of 1973. We became platonic friends in senior year, and I greatly enjoyed his company. He was funny, charming, and had the gift of gab. Although engaged at the time to my husband, he flirted shamelessly with myself, and every girl other girl around. He had a great smile, and always made us laugh. We had some great conversations about Star Trek, and mourned it's cancellation a few years earlier. Agreed totally that the smartest and coolest people were born in 12/54 (I'm 2 weeks younger), and debated which were the best pizza places in the area. I'm glad that he was surrounded by family and friends and had an interesting and varied life. But very sad that it was far too short. When next my husband and I donate to The Wounded Warrior Project it will be in Halsey's name. May time soften the blow if his loss, and may you all dwell on the happy memories. Marian Mahoney Acheson SHS 1973
