McMickle, Viola

McMickle, Viola age 85 of Hampton Twp., NJ died peacefully Sunday March 15th, 2015 at the Andover Nursing Home following a long illness. Born in the family home on Merriam Ave., she had lived in Newton most of her life.

            Daughter of the late Clinton E. and Grace (Babb) Carey, Viola was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and aunt. She had worked as a seamstress for many years for the former Morley’s Shirt Co. Franklin, NJ. Mrs. McMickle enjoyed cooking and baking, and was well known for her chocolate cakes and her holiday pies. She loved spending time with her family as well as her pets.

            Viola was pre deceased by her beloved husband Morris McMickle, one son Richard McMickle, as well as her brothers Earl, Charles, Ralph, and Frederick Carey. Survivors include her son Larry McMickle of Newton, her daughters Wendy Kinney of Queen Creek, AZ, and Marianne McMickle of Newton, NJ. Also surviving are her nieces Sandy Godlevski of Lafayette, Ellen Metzgar of Andover Twp., and Amila Zummo of Wantage Twp., her seven grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and seven great nieces and nephews.

            Memorial visitation will be held Thursday March 19, 2015 from 3-5 PM. Memorial services will immediately follow visitation at 5PM in the Iliff-Ruggiero Funeral Home, 156 Main Street (Rt.206) Newton, NJ.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Viola’s memory may be made to the Father John’s Animal Shelter www.fatherjohnsanimalhouse.org

I never knew Viola well but she always greeted me like we'd spent our life together. I owe her great thanks for creating such a wonderful daughter, Marianne, who took such good care of her, and the rest of the family who took me in as one of their own. Much love and sympathy, Lisa
