Ritchie, Floyd Jay

FLOYD JAY RITCHIE, 92, of Sparta, New Jersey, passed away at home on November 22, 2017.  Floyd was born on March 4, 1925 in Yonkers, New York to the late Lester and Edith Ritchie. He graduated from Gorton High School in Yonkers and proudly served his country during WW II as part of the 509th Composite Group in the Pacific theatre.  Floyd earned his bachelor's degree in marketing and management from New York University while also supporting his family. He moved to Bronxville, New York in 1969 and pursued an innovative and successful career in domestic and international management and marketing for companies including Remington Rand, McCann Erickson, Royal McBee and Unisys.  In partial retirement, he shared his passion for the application of real-world management techniques with his students as a part-time adjunct instructor of management at Pace University. Floyd retired to Sparta, finally having time to pursue his love of sports, and golf in particular.

Floyd was predeceased by his beloved wife, Ruth Morrison Ritchie, his sister, Lois Ritchie Gould, and his brother Robert J. Ritchie.  He leaves behind to cherish his memory his son, Joseph Michael Ritchie and his wife, Diane; his daughters Mary Ritchie; Paula Marie Carlson and her husband, Edwin Carlson; and Laura Ritchie Fifer and her husband, Stephen Fifer. He also leaves nine grandchildren Susan Bristow and her husband Michael; Matthew Fifer and his wife Erin Kazaz; Sarah Erdwins and her husband, Chris; Brian Carlson; Kathleen and Gillian Ritchie; Allison, Audrey and Anna Fifer.  He had two great-grandchildren Ella Fifer and Aiden Bristow.

               A Funeral Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday November 27, 2017 at 10:00 AM in the Saint Kateri Tekakwitha RC Church #427 Stanhope Rd. Sparta, NJ 07871. Interment will follow in the Sparta Cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday November 26th from 6-8 PM in the Iliff-Ruggiero Funeral Home #156 Main St. (Rt. 206) Newton, NJ.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in memory of Floyd be made to CFCS Meals on Wheels, 48 Wyker Ave, Franklin, NJ 07416.
