Lee, Josephine T.

Josephine Theresa Lee, age 91 of Andover Township, died peacefully with her loving family by her side Wednesday, February 4th, 2015, at the Karen Ann Quinlan Home for Hospice, Fredon Township, New Jersey. Born in Harrison, New Jersey, Josephine resided in Kearny, New Jersey, and Baton Rouge, Louisiana, before moving to Andover Township in 1999.

Daughter of the late Bernard and Frances Zorskus (nee) White, Josephine began her working career during WWII as a crane operator.   She held a number of other positions in the post-War years eventually concluding as an employee of the Exxon Corporation located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.  Josephine’s strengths centered around her outgoing personality, her friendly disposition, her love of people, especially her family, and her concern for those less fortunate.  Her interests included ceramics, crocheting, needlepoint and gardening but most importantly cooking for family and friends. Her generosity and trademark hugs and kisses will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was pre-deceased by her beloved husband of fifty four years, Merwyn Sleigh Lee in 1997, as well as her three brothers, Bernard, William and Joseph.   Current family members include her son Merwyn (Butch) and his wife Lorna Lee of Byram Township, her daughter Diane and her husband Fred Gillespie of Andover Township. Also surviving are her sister Veronica Levin of Delray Beach, Florida, as well as four grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Memorial services will be announced at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of the Iliff-Ruggiero Funeral Home, 156 Main Street (Route 206), Newton, NJ 07860. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to either the Karen Ann Quinlan Hospice or to Father John’s Animal House Lafayette, New Jersey.
