Silvia, Joaquin "Jack" Jr.

           Silvia, Joaquin “Jack” Jr. age 73 of Frankford Twp., NJ entered into eternal rest Sunday September 13, 2015 at the Newton Medical Center following a brief illness. Born in Orange, NJ he grew up in Verona and had lived many years in Bloomfield before moving to Frankford Twp. in 1986.

          Son of the late Joaquin and Antoinette (Acone) Silvia, Jack played Football for Verona High School and had worked in the Public Works Dept. for the town of Verona following graduation. Mr. Silvia had a long career with Schering Plough of Bloomfield, retiring as the Research Stock Room Supervisor. He was also a member of the company Fire Brigade. A long time and active member of the Sons of American Legion Post #157 Branchville where he served as Santa Claus every year.

          Jack enjoyed volunteering for Karen Ann Quinlan Hospice, and was proud of being an Imperial Turtle of the Turtle Club. An ardent NY Yankees and Giants fan, he also enjoyed collecting sports memorabilia. Mr. Silvia was also fond of Turtles, Cardinals and collections of that nature.

          Survivors include his beloved wife of forty four years Jean A. (Aguiar), his son Joaquin G. “Jack” of Winsted, CT, his daughter Jamie V. Silvia of Frankford Twp., his brothers Anthony of Toms River and Vincent of Warren, as well as his sisters Lucille Iannone of Fairfield, Anna Torsiello of Toms River, and his granddaughters Gabrielle and Angelina Silvia.

             Funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM Monday September 21, 2015 at the Iliff-Ruggiero Funeral Home 156 Main St (Rt. 206) Newton, NJ, with interment immediately following in the Branchville Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Funeral Home Sunday September 20th from 2-4 and 7-9 PM.

May God almighty, father of tender mercies and all comfort continue to comfort you all (2 Corinthians 1:3, 4). How glad we are that God has promised to completely remove death, tears, mourning, outcry and pain (Revelation 21:4). Indeed we all eagerly anticipate the fulfillment of that promise.
