Cafasso, Richard A. Sr.

             Cafasso, Richard A. Sr. age 66 of Fredon, NJ passed away Saturday December 2, 2017 at the University Hospital of Pennsylvania following an illness. Born in Paterson, NJ Richard had lived many years in Hopatcong and Fredon Twp., New Jersey.

             Son of the late Alfred F. Sr. and Velma V. (nee Huber) Cafasso, Richard worked most of his career with DuPont Corp. in Pompton Lakes, M&M Mars of Hackettstown, Mt. Hope Rock Products of Warton, and Newton Board of Education in Newton.  An avid Boater, he also enjoyed fishing, hiking and camping.  Mr. Cafasso was a true Yankee Baseball fan as well enjoyed coaching Baseball with the Hopatcong Little League also serving as the team treasurer for many years. He also coached with the Stillwater and Fredon Girls Softball Leagues, as well as played softball on the Hopatcong JAYCEES Organization.

             Richard was predeceased by his brother Robert Cafasso in 2014. Survivors include his beloved wife Barbara M. (nee Sich) Cafasso, his sons Richard A. Jr. of Oakridge, NJ, Ronald R. and his wife Sandee of Dingmans Ferry, PA, Daniel G. and his wife Mandi of Cincinnati, and his daughter April J. and her husband Thomas Hall of Deptford, NJ.  Also surviving are his brothers Keith and his wife Debbie Cafasso of Haskell, NJ, Alfred and his wife Christine Cafasso of Arizona, his two sisters Dawn and her husband Jim Stahley of Kentucky and Toni Cafasso of Haskell, NJ as well as his seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

             A Christian Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday December 8, 2017 at 10:00 AM in the Saint Joseph Roman Catholic Church #24 Halstead St. Newton, NJ. Visitation will be held Thursday December 7th from 2-4 and 7-9 PM in the Iliff-Ruggiero Funeral Home #156 Main St. (Rt. 206) Newton, NJ.
