Cole, Mildred C.

Cole, Mildred C. age 88 of Newton, NJ passed away Tuesday January 16, 2018 at the Barn Hill Care Center Newton, NJ. Born in New York, NY Mildred later moved to Newark, NJ where she met and married her husband the late Louis J. Cole. After the death of her husband she moved to Hopatcong where she lived until 2005.

Millie worked at Tung-Sol as well as the former Two Guys Department Store both in Newark, NJ. She was known for her laugh, and once while getting her haircut at a salon she and the staff were laughing so hard that everyone in the place began laughing. Mildred had the nerve to call out from the third row of a Frank Sinatra concert for him to “Please Sing My Way”. Mr. Sinatra said he didn’t want to sing that son, but he finally gave in and sang the song for Millie.

Mildred was the youngest of six siblings, being predeceased by her sisters Marie (Mary) Christianziani, Esperanza (Essie) Korley, Gloria Cangiano and her brother Jordan Besosa.  Millie leaves behind her brother Nelson Besosa, her three children Doreen Savarese, Donna Ramos and Don Cole. She is also survived by her grandchildren David Ramos, Nicholas Savarese, Frank and Ashley Cole.

Funeral services will be held Sunday January 21, 2018 at 1:30 PM in the Iliff-Ruggiero Funeral Home #156 Main St. (Rt. 206) Newton, NJ immediately followed by a repast at Tuscany Bistro #216 Woodside Ave. Newton, NJ. Visitation will be held at the Funeral Home Sunday from 12 to 1:30 PM.

Here are some special memories shared by family and friends.
As a kid we visited family a lot and Aunt Millie was one of those that we loved to visit. She was always so approachable and welcoming. She was adorably fun and with her laughter and easy way about her we felt so comfortable. She lives on in all of you and she's now able to enjoy good times with her sisters again! We love you all Cherie and Mitch. Xoxo

My husband and I were next door neighbors and could always count on seeing Millie on her front porch when we came home! With a big smile and a hello for everyone! Loved our daily chats when I'd walk the dog and stop to see her! She was a lovely woman who I'll remember fondly! Condolences to her family and loved ones.

Oh the memories I have growing up with the Cole family. Millie and Lou took me everywhere with them. Shopping at Two Guys in Kearny. The Lakes in the summer. It was my second home. I will always hold fond memories in my heart.
