Gati, Concetta D.

Concetta (Mirro) Gati passed away peacefully on September 2nd at age 94 years young in Oakland, NJ.  Connie, as she was known as, was the daughter of the late Francesco and Lucretia Mirro.  She was predeceased by her husband Victor who passed away in 1981, her daughter Lucretia who passed away in 2008, her brothers, Anthony and Nicholas, her sisters, Mary, Margaret and Josephine.  She is survived by her daughter Theresa and husband Don Iaccheri of Brewster, Massachusetts, her sons Peter Gati of Hackensack and Frank Gati and his wife Donna of Ringwood, NJ, and son-in-law Thomas Hamilton of Sparta, NJ husband of the late Lucretia Hamilton. Connie also leaves her grandchildren, John Hamilton and wife Kate of Madison, NJ, Victor Hamilton and his wife Erin of Southlake, TX, Frank and Allison Gati of Ringwood, NJ, Christopher Gati of Morristown, NJ, Jennifer McCormick and her husband James of New City, NY.  Connie was also known as Grandma the Great because she has four Great Granddaughters, Alexis, Emma, Ryleigh and Scarlett.  She also leaves many nieces and nephew from a very large extended family.  Especially the “Gati” and “Mirro” cousins who she loved being with.

Connie was born in New York and lived briefly in Bari, Italy.  Young Connie’s life experiences included living thru the Great Depression and World War II.  After meeting and marrying the love of her life Victor in 1945, they started a family.  In 1955 they moved from Bronx, NY to their new home in Demarest, NJ with their young family.  After raising four children Connie worked in various jobs outside the home before retiring from her final position at the Hasbro Company.

Eventually Connie moved to Sparta, NJ where she lived a very active life while residing at Knoll Heights Senior Living and later at Knoll View Assisted Living.  Thank you to Lisa Reidinger of Knoll View for her guidance and assistance during the time Connie resided there. Connie was a communicant at Our Lady of the Lake in Sparta, NJ. Connie pasted away at Oakland Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center where she lived for the past two years.  We want to thank the exceptional nurses, aides and staff who very much cared for and loved her.  Despite health issues Connie was known for her determination and spirit to carry on and her eager participation in the many activities offered, playing bingo, arts and crafts and especially music and dancing.

Connie will be laid to rest in Hackensack Cemetery with her beloved husband Victor.  Graveside services will be held on November 4, 2017 which would have been her 95Th Birthday.  In lieu of flowers donations made to the Hurricanes Harvey and Irma Relief Funds would be appreciated or to a charity of your choice.

Here are some special memories shared by family and friends.
Dear Peter, Theresa, Frank and Family: Please accept our sympathy on the passing of your mother, Concetta. Sincerely, Tim and Janet Tedesco Oakland, NJ
Timothy Tedesco
I don't remember ever calling Connie anything other than "Aunt" Connie even though we were not family. I remember all the trips to Atlantic City, Friday nights playing continental, and just enjoying her company. I am so glad I got to see her before she passed. She looked so happy the day we visited. I will miss her. Janice
