Baggott, Catherine

Catherine Baggott, age 96 of Green Township passed away on Tuesday, May 19th, 2015 at the Newton Medical Centre, following a long illness. 

           

            Catherine was born in Brooklyn, NY, and had lived in Maywood and Paramus, NJ, before moving to Green in 1976.  A Vaudeville performer of the 1920’s and 30’s, Catherine ran a dance studio out of her home in Paramus, and taught dance classes at many different Sussex County area high schools after moving to Green.  Under the name “Kay Weber,” Catherine danced for the King and Queen of England, President Franklin Roosevelt, and for audiences of thousands in Carnegie Hall.  She was a lifetime member of Dance Master of America.  Most recently, she was featured on the NJ Sunday Herald Lifestyle front page.  She was also a member of the Yellow Frame Presbyterian Church, and will be missed by all who knew her. 

           

            Pre-deceased by her parents, husband S. George Baggott, brother Henry Weber, sister Helen Machtylowicz, and one great-grandson Jeffrey Baggott, she is survived by her son Barry Baggott and wife Darby, also of Green; daughter Diane Baggott of Ringwood, NJ; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
