Mitchell, Lois Telfair

Mitchell, Lois T. age 65 of Andover Twp., NJ passed away Wednesday May 20, 2015 at the St. Clare’s Hospital Denville Campus. Born in Dover, NJ she had lived in West Orange and Sparta Township before moving to Andover Township thirty years ago.

          Daughter of the late O. Warwick and Lois (Beers) Telfair, Lois was a graduate of the Sparta High School class of 1968. In 1972 she graduated from the Orange Memorial School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse. Lois began working as an RN at Orange Memorial Hospital and spent the majority of her career at the former Martland Medical Center, now known as University Hospital Newark, NJ. She retired from University Hospital in 2007, after 28 plus years as a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Nurse.

          Lois was pre deceased by her sister Phyllis Telfair, and is survived by her daughter Tammy E. Mitchell of Washington, DC and her son Michael G. Mitchell of Newton, NJ. She is also survived by her ex-husband George Mitchell of Halifax, VA as well as her dog Maggie.

          Memorial services will be held Saturday May 30, 2015 at 11:30 AM in the Iliff-Ruggiero Funeral Home #156 Main St. (Rt. 206) Newton, NJ. Friends may call at the funeral home Saturday from 10 to 11:30 AM. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Lois’ favorite charity, Horton’s Kids, a non-profit based in DC that empowers underprivileged and at- risk children www.hortonskids.org

I would like to extend my heartfelt condolences to the family for the loss of your loved one. May God almighty, father of tender mercies and all comfort continue to comfort you all (2 Corinthians 1:3, 4). How glad we are that God has promised to completely remove death, tears, mourning, outcry and pain (Revelation 21:4). Indeed we all eagerly anticipate the fulfillment of that promise. The Bible also provides assurance of a real hope of resurrection for our dead loved ones in the coming near future (John 5:25). May these promises from God bring you comfort.
