Pegel, Calvin Dwight

Pegel, Calvin Dwight, age 16 of Green Twp. NJ, passed away unexpectedly Saturday October 1, 2016. Born in Livingston NJ, Calvin was a sophomore at Newton High School. He was a happy, gentle soul who made a lasting impression on all who knew him in his too short life.

A true individual with his own ideas about life and how to live it, Calvin loved his family and friends, cross country and track, music, photography, animals, and travel. He was known for his unique sense of humor, his encyclopedic knowledge of arcane facts, his love of adventure, and his fearless exploration of the world around him. Raised in the country, he dreamed of one day living amidst the hustle and bustle of a big city.

Survivors include his parents Robert T. and Zulma (Garcia) Pegel, his brothers Carlos-Jose and Leonardo A. Lopez, and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

A funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday October 7th, 2016 at 10:00 AM in the Good Shepherd Roman Catholic Church, Rt. 517 Andover, NJ. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday October 6th. From 2-4 and 7-9 PM in the Iliff-Ruggiero Funeral Home #156 Main St. (Rt. 206) Newton, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Calvin Dwight Pegel Scholarship Fund, 1 Stone Forge Road, Andover, NJ, 07821, which will reward a 2019 graduate of Newton High School.

To The Pegel Family, Both of my daughters were friends of Calvin and were devastated by his passing. Calvin has touched their lives in many ways that I didn't know until this past week. You must be so proud of him and his accomplishments. It is quite apparent that he has touched the lives of so many. He has even made an impact on me through conversations I've had with my daughters over the last week and I didn't even know him. I pray for you to find comfort and cherish all the wonderful memories you have had with such a fine young man who's made such an impact. You will certainly remain in my prayers for a long time to come. Sincerely, Lisa Ciccia ( Mom of April and Nicoletta)

My heart truly goes out to Calvin's family and friends. There are no words to express how truly sorry I am for your loss. I was shocked when I read about his passing on Anne's fb page as well as on the page of a mom of one of Calvin's heartbroken friends. You are in our thoughts and prayers. Love from the McLoughlins (Richie, Robbie, Sharon, Lauren & Beth).

My heart aches for the Pegel family to lose your precious loved one Calvin, after just 16 way too short years, way too young, way too soon. Words are so limited that can give comfort, so I would like to share with you a beautiful scripture where Jesus makes us a wonderful promise at John 5:28, which says: "Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out..." . Our heavenly father promises us to do away with man's worst enemy, death at Rev. 21: 4 which reads: "And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore." For more comforting scriptures please visit: http://bit.ly/1K38EFt. It has provided me with hope, strengthened my faith and helped me find the answer to Why? I know it will do the same for you. God's kingdom that Jesus taught us to pray for at Matt. 6: 9, 10 will bring about these wonderful promises including the resurrection. John 6:40 Jehovah (Psalms 83:18) invites you to throw all your burdens on him and he will sustain you in your time of grief. I offer my sincere condolences to the family. Feel free to contact me at my email address: myranj@centurytel.net May these promises give you hope, comfort and peace in your time of grief.
