Doone, Holly S.

Holly Shawn Doone was an artist, nature lover, teacher, mother, wife, and free spirit. She had a big personality and an even bigger heart. If she wasn’t creating art, she was trying to gift away her possessions to those who needed them more. As a long time environmental and animal rights activist, she donated to charities regularly. She lived in Virginia, North Carolina, and settled down in New Jersey. Her love of travel could never be contained and she could always be found outside taking pictures or going on impromptu adventures. She always had the ability to connect with people from all walks of life and idealized the positive change that we can all make in the world. She is survived by her two sons, Dylan Douglas Doone and Jacques Cartier, her loving husband James Doone, as well as her three grandchildren Sennen Aldous Doone, Giavanna Cartier, and Dakota Cartier. Her lessons will never be forgotten and the lives that she touched will always carry her with them. Memorial Visitation will be held Friday December 20, 2013 in the Iliff Ruggiero Funeral Home, 156 Main Street (Rt. 206), Newton, N.J. from 5 to 6:30PM immediately followed by Memorial Services at 6:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, she would wish for donations made in her honor supporting the Alzheimer's Foundation of America. http://www.alzfdn.org/ContributetoAFA/makeadonation.html

Holly was my sister, and closest in mind than any other. As well as being incredibly sensitive, she was tough as nails and fragile as a baby bird @ the same time. She was one of those rare personalities who fill the room upon entering. You couldn't help but love her. The world is strangly empty now.

To Jimmy and family, I knew you and Holly many years ago. I was an RN a Newton Hospital and also worked at Brady's for a short time. I am so very sorry for your loss. Holly was an amazing woman with a great smile and contagious laugh. I know Holly will live on in many people's hearts till we all meet again. Again my sincere condolences and hugs <3 Liz

Ran into Dylan at the sunflower maze and was told that Holly had passed. I am so sorry. Holly was such a kind, funny, and devil-may-care friend! We watched our boys grow up, laughed at their antics and cried over problems. Holly always made it easier because she had a unique way of dealing with it all. I will miss you, Holly! My condolences to Dylan, Jim, and all who loved her. Erika
